MASTER TILES is a tile and stone importer. It started in Sydney in 2022 to give builders and trades a shorter line to the quarries and kilns that make their material.
Why an importer.
Most tile on an Australian job has passed through several hands before it reaches the site: manufacturer, exporter, wholesaler, showroom. Each one adds time and margin, and each one is another place where a batch number goes missing.
MASTER TILES works from the other end. We start with the regions that make each material best, select lines and batches at origin, and handle the freight through to the customer. A builder ordering porcelain for a commercial floor, or marble for a single ensuite, deals with one supplier who knows where that tile was made.
The range is chosen for trade work. That means formats tilers can handle, slip ratings that suit the area, and specs in writing, with the adhesive and grout to suit.
How a batch is checked.
Tile is a fired or quarried product, and no two production runs are identical. These are the checks that stop a mismatched floor before it ships.
- ShadeEvery carton carries a shade code. Supplying an order from one shade is what keeps the colour even from the first room to the last.
- CalibreSmall size variations are graded into calibres. Mixing them opens up joint lines, so calibre belongs on the batch record.
- Flatness & warpageLong formats need checking for bow, because lippage shows most on a 1200 mm edge.
- Stone colour rangeFor natural stone, a range sample shows the lightest and darkest pieces to expect before an order is confirmed.
- Packing & paperworkPallets strapped and corner-protected, stone crated, and the technical data sheet supplied with the order.
Every region makes tile its own way.
Moroccan zellige, Anatolian glazes, Italian technical porcelain. Knowing those traditions is how we know what to ask a maker for.
How we work.
Material first
We start from the stone and the clay. If a line can’t hold its colour and calibre across a batch, it doesn’t come in.
Specs in writing
Slip rating, wear rating, absorption and format are on paper before you order. No guesswork on a certifier’s inspection.
Tile and glue together
Every tile is matched with the adhesive and grout that suit it, so the bed is as right as the tile.
